Somewhere between "flowers that die in a week" and "a candle in a boring box," there's a gift that covers both — and until recently, it wasn't something you could easily find in India.
A candle bouquet is exactly what it sounds like: candles arranged to look like a flower bouquet. The individual candles are shaped and coloured as flowers — roses, peonies, dahlias, depending on the maker — and assembled into a bunch with wrapping, ribbon, and the same visual language as a traditional bouquet. The difference is that instead of lasting a week, each candle has 25–40 hours of burn time. A bouquet of six candles is six to eight months of evenings.
At Blue Honey, we make these by hand in Navi Mumbai. Currently only for Mumbai and Navi Mumbai delivery — because getting wax flowers to arrive without breaking requires a control over handling that we can't guarantee through national couriers yet. That limitation has an upside: if you're in Mumbai, you're getting something that was made locally, recently, and handled carefully.
Why they've become the gifting choice in Mumbai
Flowers carry a cultural weight as a gift in India that doesn't need explanation. They appear at housewarmings, at births, at celebrations, at ceremonies. The instinct to give flowers is deep and right.
The problem with actual flowers — which anyone who's gifted them in Mumbai in May knows — is that they need to be delivered the same day, they're temperature-sensitive, they require water and care from the recipient, and they're gone in five to seven days. For a significant occasion, a gift that lasts a week feels insufficient.
A candle bouquet solves this with no trade-offs. It looks like flowers. It smells better than flowers (the fragrance is consistent, not variable with the season or the flower shop's supplier that day). It lasts months. And the recipient can choose when and how to burn it — it's not a perishable on a countdown.
When people order them
Housewarmings are the most common occasion. In a new home, candles are practical and a candle bouquet is celebratory — it's both a decoration for day one and a functional product for months after.
Birthdays, especially milestone ones. A 30th birthday, a 40th, a significant anniversary. The occasions where flowers alone feel slightly perfunctory.
Corporate gifting. Several companies in Mumbai have used Blue Honey candle bouquets for team recognition gifts and client Diwali gifting. A bespoke, handmade product from a local Navi Mumbai brand reads differently from a hamper of standard items.
And increasingly: just-because gifting. For a friend who's been having a hard month. For a neighbour who helped during a building issue. For the occasions that don't have a name but call for something more considered than a box of mithai.
What's customisable
The scent — we work with the recipient's preferences or the giver's best guess. If you know she loves jasmine, the bouquet can be jasmine. If you're not sure, we recommend white florals for this product — they're the most universally appropriate for the visual context of a bouquet.
The colour palette — the wax flowers can be coordinated or mixed, pale or bold, depending on the occasion and the recipient's taste.
The size — smaller table bouquets for intimate gifts, larger statement pieces for corporate or significant occasion gifting.

One honest note on delivery
We don't ship candle bouquets outside Mumbai and Navi Mumbai at this point. This is not a courier limitation — it's a fragility limitation. Wax flowers are delicate. We've tested courier packaging extensively and the breakage rate outside local delivery wasn't acceptable for a product we're proud of.
